Acamprol 333mg Tablet is used in alcohol dependence.
Diarrhoea, Abdominal pain, Nausea, Vomiting, Decreased libido, Itching, Flatulence, Impotence.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Acamprol 333mg Tablet is to be taken with food.
Acamprol 333mg tablet blocks the chemical which breaks the converted form of alcohol in the body. This leads to an increased level of converted form of alcohol in the body causing bad physical features while drinking alcohol.
- You should not be drinking at the start and during acamprosate treatment as it will be less effective if you keep drinking.
- When you suddenly stop drinking, you may experience some unpleasant symptoms known as alcohol withdrawal syndrome. You should take acamprosate as soon as possible after the withdrawal period.
- Alcoholic patients may suffer from depression and suicidality. Please report your treating doctor in case of any such symptoms.
- Consult your doctor before stopping to take acamprosate.
- Tell your doctor if you are or planning to become pregnant or are breastfeeding.

Pregnancy
Acamprol 333mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
Acamprol 333mg Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Driving
Acamprol 333mg Tablet does not usually affect your ability to drive.
Kidney
Acamprol 333mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Acamprol 333mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Acamprol 333mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease.
Liver
Acamprol 333mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Dose adjustment of Acamprol 333mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Limited information is available on the use of Acamprol 333mg Tablet in these patients. No dose adjustment is recommended in patients with mild to moderate liver disease.
If you miss a dose of Acamprosate, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
