How to works How Skeen Cream works Skeen Cream is a combination of four medicines: Betamethasone, Gentamicin, Tolnaftate and Clioquinol (Iodochlorhydroxyquin) which treat skin infections. Betamethasone is a steroid medicine. It blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen and itchy. Gentamicin is an antibiotic with additional antifungal action. It works by preventing the growth and multiplication of both bacteria and fungi. Tolnaftate is also an antibiotic which specifically kills bacteria by preventing synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions. Clioquinol (Iodochlorhydroxyquin) is an antifungal which stops the growth of fungi by preventing them from forming their own protective covering.
