Role of active ingredients:
Ketoconazole is in a class of antifungal medications called imidazoles. It works by slowing the growth of fungi that cause infection and is used to treat yeast infections of the skin. Ketoconazole shampoo is used to treat control flaking, scaling, and itching of the scalp caused by dandruff, help to relieve the flaking, scaling and itching associated with dandruff.
Zinc pyrithione is best known for its use in treating dandruff and seborrhoeic dermatitis, particularly in dandruff shampoos. It has fungistatic (that is, it inhibits the division of fungal cells) and bacteriostatic (inhibits bacterial cell division) properties and is used in the treatment of seborrhoeic dermatitis.
