How to works How Quadrajel Gel works Quadrajel Gel is a combination of three medicines: Lidocaine Topical, Chlorhexidine Gluconate. and Metronidazole Topical which treat mouth sore. Lidocaine Topical is a local anesthetic. It works by blocking pain signals from the nerves to brain which decreases pain sensation. Chlorhexidine Gluconate is an antiseptic which binds to the surface of teeth, inner cheeks and gums. This kills the infectious microorganisms that cause gum disease, tartar and other mouth infections. Metronidazole Topical is an antibiotic which kills the bacteria and other microorganisms by damaging the DNA.
