How to works	How Sulpha FH Eye Drop works Sulphacetamide / Sulfacetamide is an antibiotic which stops bacteria from producing folic acid, a nutrient required for bacterial multiplication. This treats your infection. Hydrocortisone is a steroid medicine. It blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the eye red, swollen and itchy. Phenyl Mercuric Nitrate is a preservative.
