Softee tablets are used for aiding bowel (poo) movements. The main ingredient is sodium picosulfate, which is metabolized by the gut bacteria to its active form. The active form of sodium picosulphate stimulates bowel movements by increasing peristalsis (rhythmic) movements in the intestine. Most common side effects include cramps and diarrhea. Softee tablets should be given once a day at bedtime preferable on an empty stomach.
As a laxative, purgative before diagnostics (colonoscopy, surgery) or for post-operative conditions. For relief of constipation in patients with anorectal disorders.
