How Phenosulf Eye Drop works
Phenosulf Eye Drop is a combination of five medicines: Boric Acid, Chlorbutol, Chlorpheniramine, Sodium Chloride and Sulphacetamide / Sulfacetamide. Boric acid is an antiseptic which treats bacterial infection in the eyes and relieves irritation. Chlorpheniramine is an antiallergic which blocks the action of certain chemical messengers responsible for red, itchy, teary eyes. Sodium chloride is a purified salt solution which works by drawing out water from swollen cornea. Sulphacetamide/sulfacetamide is an antibiotic. It prevents the bacteria that cause eye infections from producing folic acid, a nutrient required for bacterial replication. Chlorbutol is a preservative. |
