About Sarpagandha tablet
Sarpagandha tablet (also called Sarpagandhadi Gutika) is an ayurvedic formulation used for the management of hypertension (high blood pressure), insomnia (sleeplessness), alcoholism, tachycardia, and albuminuria.

Benefits & Medicinal Uses of Sarpagandha tablet
Sarpagandha tablet is mainly used for inducing sleep and reducing blood pressure, so it has two main indications – insomnia and hypertension.
Insomnia
Sarpagandha tablet is highly useful for the treatment of insomnia (sleeplessness) occurring due to unusual excitability or hyper-excitability of the mind, which may be because of an alcoholic hangover, mental disorders, medicines, etc. It calms the mind and reduces hyper-excitability, thus bring on the sleep. In severe cases of insomnia, it should be used along with nervine tonic herbs like Centella Asiatica (Gotu Kola), Convolvulus Pluricaulis (Shankhpushpi), and Mukta Pishti.
Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)
Rauwolfia Serpentina, the main ingredient of Sarpagandha tablet is well-known medicine for reducing elevated blood pressure and other ingredients provide support by calming the mind and reducing the hyperexcitability of the nervous system. Its effects are long lasting, but it may take 7 to 15 days to show optimum results.
Dosage & Administration of Sarpagandha tablet
Children 250 mg (1 tablet)
Adults 500 mg to 750 mg (2 to 3 Tablets)
Maximum Possible Dosage 1.5 grams Per Day (in divided doses)

Sarpagandha tablet is well-tolerated in most individuals in the recommended dosage. It may also cause some side effects, which should be discussed with a physician.
Side Effects of Sarpagandha tablet
Sarpagandha tablet can cause following side effects.
Dryness of the mouth (Most Common)
Stuffy nose or Nasal Congestion (Most Common)
Pregnancy
Sarpagandha tablet is likely UNSAFE during pregnancy because alkaloids in Sarpagandha (its ingredient) can pass through the placental barrier and cause ill effects and birth defects in developing fetus. Therefore, all forms of Sarpagandha tablet should be avoided during pregnancy.
Lactation
Sarpagandha tablet should also not be used by lactating mothers. The alkaloids of Sarpagandha in it can pass into breast milk and cause loss of appetite, breathing difficulty and low body temperature in breastfeeding baby.
Contraindications
Sarpagandha tablet should not be used in the following health conditions:
Bradycardia (slow heartbeat)
Hypotension
Inflammatory Bowel Disease – ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease
Gastritis (it should not be used alone with water)
Peptic Ulcers
Parkinson’s Disease
Depression
